What did you say, God?

The other morning, while driving into work, I was praying and talking with God.  I was talking with Him about how hard it is sometimes to have Faith.  I can understand where that “sinful generation” was coming from, seeking a sign.  It’s one thing to hear about something versus actually seeing it.  How it would be really cool if God would just come on down and drive into work with me one day, so we can talk.  That way, not only will I see, but I can talk with God, and he can talk to me.

Have you ever thought that?

Anyway, it was a nice morning, and when I got to work, I started up the computer.  E-Sword always starts up with my computer, so that my daily reading is right there when I get into work.  Well I have been doing this daily reading for about 1 year pretty contiually now, but was very suprised by what came up that day…

What was it, you ask?

Hebrews 11 & 12!  Why is that a big deal?  Well, for someone who just spent the morning talking with God about Faith, and how I wished God would talk to me, Hebrews 11 is 100% about faith.  It is where that famous verse, “Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen”, comes from.  In addition, most of the chapter is examples of faith:

  • By faith Joseph, when he was dying, made mention of the departure of the children of Israel, and gave instructions concerning his bones.
  • By faith he [Moses] forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured as seeing Him who is invisible.
  • By faith the harlot Rahab did not perish with those who did not believe, when she had received the spies with peace.
  • …and the list goes on…

So after spending the morning discussing the difficulty of Faith, and hoping God would talk to me…He did!  When I opened up His word, He talked to me directly about Faith.  Say “coincidence” all you want….I know its true, and you know its true.

Take another look at the Bible, and let God speak to you, cause as it says in Heb 12,  “See that you do not refuse Him who speaks. For if they did not escape who refused Him [Jesus] who spoke on earth, much more shall we not escape if we turn away from Him [God] who speaks from heaven”
